Moore: Myles Powell has Seton Hall rolling

The former Medford Tech star is an NCAA Player of the Year candidate for Big East-leading Seton Hall

PHILADELPHIA — Myles Powell set a high standard with his terrific junior season at Seton Hall, earning first-team All-Big East honors while scoring the most points in school history (786) during the modern era.

Though he came into his senior year with great expectations as the Big East Conference Preseason Player of the Year and Associated Press Preseason All-America pick, Powell hasn‘t disappointed in 2019-20.

As a result, the 6-foot-2 shooting guard, who starred at Burlington County’s Medford Tech as a high school sophomore, has put himself squarely in the mix for NCAA Player of the Year.

Powell’s breakout game occurred on Nov. 14 against Michigan State in the Gavitt Tipoff Games at Newark’s Prudential Center. In a 76-73 loss to then No. 3-ranked Michigan State, he scored 37 points and knocked down 6 of 14 3-pointers despite being listed as questionable with an ankle injury.

"Myles is one of the great players I’ve ever seen in college basketball," gushed Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo of the Spartans afterward. "I don’t know if God could have stopped him on some of those shots."

"He’s the best player in the country — it’s not even close — for what he does," Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard said that night.

Powell has continued putting up eye-opening........
