Guest Opinion: A ray of hope for civility and compromise in politics

Last week, I had the honor of testifying in Harrisburg at a joint House-Senate hearing. After two hours, I also came away with some new optimism about a future that could include more common sense and civility in our political world.

Majority House Local Government Committee chair Rep. Jerry Knowles, R-124, convened the meeting on Sept. 13 to discuss the positive experiences local government entities have faced during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and how state lawmakers could help counties, boroughs, school boards, and townships based on lessons learned from the pandemic.

My panel talked for about one hour to the committee about benefits and pitfalls of Zoom meetings, which were permitted as proxies for in-person meetings until June 2021.
