Live updates: Hegseth says Iran faces ‘most intense day’ of attack
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is holding a briefing alongside Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine on Tuesday morning.
President Trump on Monday gave conflicting messages on the progress of Operation Epic Fury, calling it a “short excursion” yet threatening more “fury” to achieve the operation’s goals, as the economic ramifications of the war have come into focus.
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, Trump’s threat to not sign any bills until the Senate passes the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voting, has placed increasing pressure on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and his conference.
The House is out of session, and GOP leadership is hosting its annual retreat in Florida. Trump has only White House meetings on his schedule.
