More New Yorkers back Mamdani but say city on wrong track: Poll

A plurality of New York voters approve of the job Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) is doing in office, but nearly 60 percent say their city is on the wrong track, according to a new poll released Thursday.

In the survey, conducted by Emerson College Polling and PIX11, 43 percent of the city’s registered voters approve of Mamdani’s job performance, while 27 percent disapprove. Another 30 percent are neutral.

As the city’s first democratic-socialist mayor approaches his 100th day in office, Mamdani finds more support from registered voters who participated in the November 2025 election than from those who opted not to vote at all.

“Among those registered voters who voted in the November mayoral election, Mamdani’s support is stronger, with a net 26-point positive approval rating (55% approve, 29% disapprove), compared to a more modest nine-point net positive rating among those who did not vote (35% approve, 26% disapprove),” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a........
