Tulsi Gabbard to resign from Trump Intel post
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard resigned Friday, citing her husband’s battle with a rare form of bone cancer.
“My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle,” Gabbard said in her resignation letter, obtained by The Hill.
Her last day will be June 30.
“Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social, sending his wishes for a speedy recovery to Gabbard’s husband.
“Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her,” Trump said, adding that her deputy, Aaron Lukas, will serve as acting Director of National Intelligence.
Gabbard has been a controversial figure throughout her time leading the nation’s intelligence community.
She did not have the traditional background of many tapped for the role, and she earned scrutiny for a number of comments........
