President Donald Trump underwent his third medical checkup in a little more than a year Tuesday at Walter Reed National Medical Center, and declared that doctors had given him a clean bill of health.

Trump, who will turn 80 years old next month, is the oldest man to be inaugurated president. The latest exam comes amid heightened scrutiny and questions about the president’s health and fitness.
“Everything checked out PERFECTLY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday afternoon. It was not immediately clear if the White House was going to release more information.
It’s not unusual for an administration to be reticent about sharing a president’s personal health information, and there’s no legal requirement for an administration to be transparent about it.
Presidents throughout history have lied, deceived and covered up various ailments, however, and experts note there’s a tension between what a president wants to disclose and what the American people have a vested interest in knowing.
Trump’s medical history has been marked with secrecy, and critics have long accused him of trying to hide the true details of his health behind bluster. Trump’s campaign and administration have long projected him as a picture of strength and vitality.
The Trump White House has been reticent about sharing information about the president’s health beyond vague or rosy statements. He went to Walter Reed last April for a physical exam and then returned in October for what was described as a routine follow-up.
