Health alert issued for ground beef sold in 5 states and DC
(WHTM) – Check your freezers: Federal regulators have issued an alert for a ground beef product sold in five states and Washington, D.C., over possible contamination.
In an alert published Monday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said select 16-oz vacuum-packs of White Oak Pastures’ “Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef” may contain metal.
According to the FSIS, two consumer complaints were filed, which led to the discovery of the possible contamination. To date, there have been no confirmed injuries reported as a result of the issue.
The USDA alert impacts only one White Oak Pastures product: 90 percent lean grassfed ground beef sold in 1-pound, vacuum-sealed packaging. They are stamped with “105761 Sell by 03/19/26” on the back and were produced on February 26.
You can see an example of the label from FSIS below:

The ground beef was sent to a distributor, as well as Mom’s Organic Markets retail locations in D.C., Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
The beef isn’t being recalled, since it is no longer available for purchase. Instead, the FSIS is asking shoppers to check their freezers and discard or return any impacted beef for a refund.
