Trump: Xi giving ‘serious consideration’ to Pastor Ezra Jin release

President Trump told reporters on Friday that Chinese President Xi Jinping told him he was seriously considering releasing imprisoned Pastor Ezra Jin following calls for his release. 

“I think he’s giving very serious consideration to the pastor,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. “He said he’s giving very serious consideration to that.” 

Jin was arrested in October for his role in leading the underground Zion Church. Chinese authorities arrested other church staff and members as well.
