Trump says Israeli troops no longer heading to Beirut after call with Netanyahu

President Trump announced following his call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday that there will be no Israeli troops heading to Beirut and any troops that were on their way to the city have been ordered to retreat. 

Israel had ordered strikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital and ordered troops to move deeper into Lebanon in an effort to target the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah after it carried out rocket attacks on northern Israel. 

“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back, “ Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform TruthSocial.
