Kasich aims to trade outrage for optimism with new SiriusXM show
Forget shouting matches and partisan sniping, John Kasich says he’s ready to tell political leaders to “knock it off, settle down and get things fixed.”
Ohio’s former Republican governor is getting that chance with the launch of his new SiriusXM program, “The John Kasich Show.”
“We’re in a world today where in order to make any news or get anybody listen, it’s got to be like fighting and anger,” Kasich told ITK in an interview.
“What I hope to do with the show is to basically have interesting, but relatively calm conversations,” Kasich said of his forthcoming weekly program, premiering this Saturday at 11 a.m. on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel and replaying on Sundays.
Kasich said his aim is to serve as an hourlong respite from the polarized politics that too often dominate the landscape. Listeners, he said, can “turn it on and get a break, or some optimism, or something positive from the experience of listening. But it’s got to be interesting. It’s got to have some depth to it.”
The inaugural guest that Kasich plans to go deep with is former Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.).
