Jane Fonda: Hollywood needs to be ‘unwilling to engage in anticipatory obedience’

Jane Fonda says the country has “come under attack” by the Trump administration and its allies, and that Hollywood needs to be “unwilling to engage in anticipatory obedience” in order to push back.

“We have come under attack, but this time, what is really different from the last century are the attacks are coming from every part of the government: the executive, the legislative, and the Supreme Court,” Fonda said in remarks at the “Rise Up, Sing Out” concert in New York City on Sunday.

The concert — hosted by Fonda’s Committee for the First Amendment — was held the same night as “UFC Freedom 250,” an event at the White House on Flag Day that coincided with President Trump’s 80th birthday.
