TikTok star charged in LA murder-for-hire plot targeting boy band singer
(KTLA) — A social media influencer, her father and one-time boyfriend have been charged in a murder-for-hire plot targeting a popular singer with whom she shares a child, officials at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
The case, which was investigated by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was turned over to the L.A. County DA’s Office for prosecution, dates back to 2020.
Investigators say that between 2020 and 2021, Gabriela Lauren Gonzalez, 26, who gained a sizable following on social media for her lifestyle and travel content, sought the assistance of her then-boyfriend, Kai Faron Cordrey, in finding a hitman on the dark web to kill Jack Avery.
During that time, Avery, a former member of the boy band Why Don’t We, and Gonzalez were embroiled in a custody battle over their 7-year-old daughter.
It may have been Gonzalez’s father, Francisco Gonzalez, who was behind the idea of hiring a hitman, with one witness telling police that her father was heard saying........
