Boebert on Hillary Clinton questions in Epstein probe: ‘I think everybody wants to know about UFOs’

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) weighed in former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s criticism of questions during her deposition Thursday, saying “everybody wants to know about UFOs.”

Clinton, following her closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee in its probe of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, knocked lawmakers for asking questions about unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UFOs, and the debunked 2016 Pizzagate conspiracy.

“Well, I think everybody wants to know about UFOs,” Boebert told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. “I did not ask that question but I mean there certainly are questions out there and there were connections within the Epstein files that led to those questions.”

She added, “There are 3 million files there. You can go a lot of different ways.”

“She actually seemed pretty inquisitive about it,” the Colorado Republican said of Clinton. “She was interested herself.”

The former secretary of state’s testimony before the House came a day before her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was set to be deposed. The Clintons originally pressed for a public hearing, but reversed course after House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) threatened contempt proceedings.

“It then got, at the end, quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate — one of the most vile bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet — that was serving as the basis of a member’s questions to me,” Clinton told reporters Thursday in Chappaqua, N.Y.

“I thought it was very repetitive,” she added later. “I thought that they literally asked the same questions over and over again, which didn’t seem to me to be very productive. And then, as I said toward the end, there were several questions that were off subject.”

The exact nature of what lawmakers asked Clinton and her relationship to Epstein is unclear.

The former secretary denied having ever encountered the convicted sex offender during the deposition and said she did not possess any information about the disgraced financier or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Clinton said she only knew Maxwell “casually, as an acquaintance.”

She also said the mention of the former president in the Justice Department’s public release of files tied to Epstein — which included photos — did not prove her husband was connected to his crimes.

Her testimony was briefly interrupted after Boebert leaked a photo from inside the deposition. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee ripped the lawmaker for the move.
