FBI shuttered DEI office last month
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shuttered its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) office last month, according to the law enforcement agency.
“In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024.” an FBI spokesperson said in a Thursday emailed statement to The Hill.
DEI initiatives have received increased criticism in recent weeks following the deadly New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Day that killed at least 14 people and injured dozens more, according to authorities.
House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) criticized the federal law enforcement agencies after the New Orleans attack, claiming the focus on inclusionary initiatives has distracted the agents hired to ensure safety........
