Mike Johnson: California election ‘stinks to high heaven’
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) asserted that the California primary election “stinks to high heaven,” echoing gripes from President Trump and other Republicans about the integrity of the state’s election system.
“They are counting votes weeks after the election,” Johnson said in the Capitol on Monday. “I’m not saying it’s rigged. I’m saying it stinks to high heaven, and everybody knows that.”
Republicans have voiced suspicions of foul play in last week’s California primary after mail-in votes counted over the weekend knocked Republican Spencer Pratt to third place, and Democrat Tom Steyer gained ground on second-place Republican Steve Hilton.
