Alex Jones, Candace Owens push back on Trump criticism

Alex Jones and Candace Owens, two right-wing media figures who have been critical of President Trump’s military campaign in the Middle East, hit back at the president after he attacked them in a scathing social media post on Thursday.

“He’s been a chronic disappointment and I feel embarrassed I told people to go vote for him and this wasn’t going to happen,” Owens said on an episode of Piers Morgan’s show on Thursday.

Owens wrote in a subsequent social media post, “it may be time to put Grandpa up in a home.”

The pundit attached a screenshot of a Truth Social post on Thursday in which the president attacked her, Jones and commentators Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson.

All of those pundits, Trump wrote, “have one thing in common, Low IQs.

“They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record,” he said. “They don’t have what it takes, and they never did!”

Jones, a conspiracy theorist who was sued over his comments about the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre, posted a video on social media saying of Trump, he was “just so sad that whatever’s happened to him has totally changed the man he once was, because he did so much good.”

“So Trump’s got big problems, folks,” he said. “And I am just so concerned about this country and the world.”

Jones’ comments were first highlighted by Mediaite.

The president’s increased attacks on conservative media figures come as more Republicans have criticized the U.S. military campaign in the Middle East.

The White House has, meanwhile, stepped up its pushback of mainstream media coverage of the war, attacking outlets like CNN and the New York Times over what it argues are stories that are not supportive of the war effort.

Carlson, Kelly, Jones and Owens were all reliably supportive of Trump during his first term but have soured on him in recent weeks, suggesting he is being influenced by Israel to continue attacking Iran.
