Talarico campaign hires former top Cornyn staffer

Texas state Sen. James Talarico’s (D) campaign team on Monday confirmed it poached a former staffer for Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) to join him on the campaign trail months ahead of the midterm elections. 

Jacob Smith, who served as deputy legislative director for Cornyn, will now serve as deputy policy director for the Democratic senatorial campaign in the Lone Star State.
