Raffensperger received threat before bomb scare

Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state and Republican gubernatorial candidate, was evacuated from a Tuesday campaign event in Macon after authorities said there was a credible bomb threat.

Hours before Raffensperger’s campaign event at Middle Georgia Regional Airport, the Bibb County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office said they found a “suspicious object inside of a vending machine inside a secure area.”

“The Bomb Squad secured the object for examination. After the thorough sweep of the Airport, and further investigation, no hazardous devices were detected,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Facebook.

Raffensperger, staff and patrons were evacuated from the airport while the sweep was conducted.

The bomb threat came a day after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi on Monday reported the receipt of a multipage manifesto depicting Raffensperger’s face with the words “boom” plastered on the image, NBC........
