Donalds on whether Trump will campaign with him: ‘That’s his decision’

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) on Tuesday, after securing the GOP nomination in Florida’s gubernatorial race, said it is up to President Trump to decide whether he will campaign with the nominee ahead of November.

Donalds, in an appearance on NewsNation’s “On Balance,” heralded Trump’s endorsement of his bid to replace term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

“It gives you a great lift, a great lift in our party, but you’ve got to go in and put in the work. And in my campaign, we’ve been putting that work in every single day for 18 months,” the lawmaker told host Leland Vittert. “And that’s why we’re successful tonight. So, the president has great support here in Florida, continues to have great support here in Florida.”

On whether Trump will join the effort on the ground, Donalds said, “Well, that’s his decision if he’s going to come down.”
