Steak ‘n Shake employee fatally shot through drive-thru window

(NewsNation) — One Steak ‘n Shake employee is dead and another injured after an argument led to a late-night shooting through a drive-thru window in St. Louis County.

Chauncia La’Shell Meekins — who’d been on the job for just three months — was fatally shot by at least one customer while working around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, her family confirmed to local outlets. She was 32.

Meekins was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim, a male employee, went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, NewsNation local affiliate KTVI reported.

The employees were involved in an argument with a car of customers, one of whom pulled out a gun and began shooting, the St. Louis County Police Department said.

Police have not yet identified any suspects or the vehicle involved.
