Netflix raises subscription prices once again: How much more does it cost?

CHICAGO (WGN) — Netflix has hiked its subscription prices once again.

The streaming giant on Thursday updated its pricing for all available subscription tiers. The standard plan with ads — the cheapest option — is now $8.99 per month for new members, up from $7.99. The standard ad-free plan is now $19.99, up from $17.99, and the premium tier will now cost $26.99 a month, up from $24.99 per month.

The streaming company had last raised its prices in January 2025.

Netflix says the new prices are necessary to reinvest in its programming, and to improve the quality of the user experience. A representative for the streamer did not provide more specific details.

The new prices are currently in effect for new members. Existing members will be notified by email a month before the pricing will take effect for them.

The price hikes were announced only a day after the streaming service debuted its partnership with Major League Baseball on Wednesday, with an opening night game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants.

In February, Netflix walked away from its bid against Paramount to secure Warner Bros. Discovery’s studio and streaming business.

The company reported that it exceeded 325 million subscribers worldwide in January.
