(NEXSTAR) – Apple’s next major iOS update is about to be released, but there may be a few obstacles standing between you and the latest features.
During its annual event on Wednesday, Apple announced that iOS 27 will be released on Monday, Sept. 14. With it will come major updates to Siri, AI tools, your iPhone’s appearance, and security features, among other things.
To ensure you can get iOS 27 when it becomes available, here are a few settings and data points to check on your phone.
Is your device too old for the update?
If you got your iPhone or iPad within the last few years, your device can likely support iOS 27.
An easy way to check is to see if your device is already running on iOS 26. You can check this in Settings, then General, then Software Update. If you see a message like “iOS is up to date,” or that you are on a version of iOS 26, your device will support iOS 27.
You can also verify based on what model device you have. This information can be found under Settings, then General, then About. Apple offers steps on identifying iPads using the model number.
