Newest Buc-ee’s to open soon: Where are other locations planned?
(NEXSTAR) – The newest Buc-ee’s location is just days away from opening its doors. Meanwhile, dozens more have either been proposed, are under construction, or are quickly nearing their own grand openings.
On April 6, later than previously expected, Ohio will welcome its first-ever Buc-ee’s travel center in Huber Heights, just north of Dayton.
After the Huber Heights locations, Buc-ee’s is set to open its inaugural Arizona location in Goodyear on June 22. Then, on July 27, a store in San Marcos, Texas, is scheduled to open. Officials told Nexstar’s KARK last month that the Buc-ee’s in Benton, Arkansas, is expected to be ready in August or September. A Buc-ee’s spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar that the targeted date for the Benton location is August.
City officials in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, previously said the state’s fourth Buc-ee’s would open later this year, a timeline the Buc-ee’s spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar.
“We are excited about our expansion plans and look forward to sharing more details as they become available,” the spokesperson said when reached for comment in December.
2027, 2028 anticipated openings
A travel center in Monroe County, Georgia, was slated to open in March 2027, according to local news outlet WALB. A groundbreaking event has been scheduled for April 7, 2026.
Wisconsin’s first Buc-ee’s is on track to open in Oak Creek in April 2027, while a location in Ruston, Louisiana, is targeting a mid-2027 opening. The Buc-ee’s in Gallaway, Tennessee, is hoping for an August 2027 opening.
The location in Mebane, North Carolina’s first Buc-ee’s, is slated to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2027. The company was previously targeting a late 2026 or early 2027 opening. Additional stores are expected in the state, according to local reporting.
Additional Buc-ee’s locations working toward 2027 openings are in Kansas City, Kansas; Lafayette, Louisiana; and St. Lucie and Tallahassee, Florida.
Following construction delays, the timeline for the Buc-ee’s in Oak Grove, Kentucky, has been pushed back. Local reporting now suggests it may not be complete until 2027 or later.
Residents in Ocala, Florida, are set to see their Buc-ee’s location open in 2028.
Local officials confirmed two locations in Arkansas will open later than expected after project delays. The Buc-ee’s coming to Fayette County, near Memphis, is targeting a May 2027 opening date, nearly a year past the summer 2026 that was originally expected. The center in West Memphis has been pushed to June 2028, two years beyond its targeted time, Nexstar’s WREG reported in December.
Other anticipated Buc-ee’s locations
A second Ohio location could soon be in the works in Mansfield, Ohio, some 130 miles northeast of Huber Heights.
Buc-ee’s made several concessions on its proposed location in Boerne, Texas, last year, and it’s still moving through the process toward construction, according to local outlet MySA.
Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s was originally slated to open in New Kent County in 2027. Instead, a location in Mount Crawford took that title last summer, and the New Kent County location has been delayed. Local officials said in December that the travel center may not open until 2029 due to nearby road construction. In a statement to Nexstar’s WRIC, Buc-ee’s said the projected opening day is even further out: December 2031.
The Buc-ee’s location in Hardeeville, South Carolina, could open in the same year, local reports suggest.
Plans have reportedly been submitted for a Buc-ee’s in Port Charlotte, Florida. Local officials revealed earlier this year that Buc-ee’s is eyeing its first-ever Nebraska location in Gretna, about 20 miles southwest of Omaha.
Buc-ee’s is also still working to bring a location to Stafford, Virginia, where residents have expressed concern about the travel center. County officials voted to recommend approval for the site last week, according to local reports.
After more than a year of public controversy and legal challenges, Buc-ee’s pulled plans to bring a travel center to Palmer Lake, Colorado, Nexstar’s KXRM reported last month.
Discussions were also reportedly underway to bring a Buc-ee’s to Oklahoma City, but the company declined to comment when contacted by Nexstar’s KFOR.
According to Buc-ee’s, it takes about 18 to 24 months to build a travel center once construction begins.
