Doug Ford’s New Year’s resolutions should target broken promises

For many of us, New Year’s resolutions can be a bit repetitive. Many people commit to eat better, exercise more or spend less, only to resume their old habits early in the year. When we reflect on past efforts to make improvements that haven’t panned out, it can be humbling.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. Many of the goals people set for themselves at the start of the year are difficult. Committing to trying again is laudable. In that spirit, for its New Year’s resolutions this year, Doug Ford’s Ontario government should simply look to past unfulfilled policy resolutions to make the province’s finances more sustainable and its economy more prosperous.
