Is inflation really decreasing?
Rulers are claiming that inflation has decreased. Through attractive statistics, they are trying to show that inflation has come down. According to a report, the annual inflation rate in June 2026 has decreased to 11.1%, down from 11.7% recorded in May. The World Bank has predicted that Pakistan’s economic growth rate for the current financial year will remain between 3.0% and 3.4%. The State Bank of Pakistan has kept the interest rate unchanged at 10.5% in its monetary policy to ensure economic stability. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in Islamabad, the overall annual inflation rate has reached 13.52%. It has also been reported that the prices of 23 items have increased.
The figures mentioned above are meaningless for the common man. The government should focus on how an ordinary person is managing to survive. The common man is struggling immensely to cope with the current situation. Electricity bills and other utility bills are continuously adding to the difficulties of ordinary citizens.
