Thursday will mark one year since Charlie Kirk was assassinated by a leftist on a Utah college campus. A day that should be one of reflection and national unity is instead reportedly being used by Georgetown University students to hold a Charlie Kirk look-alike contest.
Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet told Fox News Digital that the event is meant to mock Kirk, while a Georgetown University spokesman said that “making light of a victim of violence is counter to our values and deeply disappointing,” according to the New York Post.
Perhaps the ghoulish display of celebration of an assassination on Georgetown’s campus is unsurprising given that immediately after Kirk’s assassination, someone posted a flyer from the John Brown Club celebrating the political violence. The sign read: “Hey, Fascist! Catch! The only political group that celebrates when Nazis die.” As The Federalist’s Shawn Fleetwood pointed out, the phrase “Hey, Fascist! Catch!” refers to the engraving on one of the bullet casings that Kirk’s alleged killer planned to use in his attack.
