Kambarata-1 to See Joint Financing From Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in 2026 |
In 2026, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will begin jointly financing the construction of the Kambarata-1 hydropower plant, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said recently after meeting with Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev.
“To effectively utilize and jointly manage the region’s hydropower potential, next year we will begin financing the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric power plant construction project jointly with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan,” Mirziyoyev said, per 24.kg.
Kambarata-1, one of the largest hydroelectric projects in the region, is positioned on the Naryn River in Kyrgyzstan. Its planned capacity is 1,860 MW with a reservoir of 5.4 billion cubic meters behind a 256 meter dam. It’s estimated that the plant will generate 5.6........
