ROOKE: Trump To Fix Marriage Penalty Hidden Inside America’s Childcare Fund

Maybe one of the most frustrating debates happening on the right revolves around a new proposed rule supporting the nuclear family.

For months, Americans have begged the Trump administration to drop the disastrous Iran War and instead focus on domestic policies that make family formation and access to the American Dream better. Now that the administration is finally on the right track (look at their recent immigration policies), there are some on the right who want to derail them, either because they fundamentally don’t understand the proposed policy or because their brains are too riddled with establishment Republican sloganism that they don’t know how to function when an administration uplifts the family.

The policy in question stems from a 90s-era entitlement program called the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), which exists in its current form to help low-income parents pay someone else to watch their children so they can work or go to school. Under current CCDF rules, a child is generally eligible only if the parent or parents are working, in school, or in training.

The New York Times reported Saturday that Trump administration officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, are seeking to open the CCDF to married couples in which one spouse stays home to raise the couple’s children. The proposed draft rule would create a category of “parent-based child care,” allowing one married parent to access CCDF aid to care for their children if the other parent works at least 35 hours per week. Federal policy already subsidizes single motherhood and working motherhood but gosh darn it if........
