Hollywood Elites Slammed For Failing To Honor Slain Iranian Director Javad Ganji

Hollywood stars flooded the Golden Globe ceremony Sunday, and politics was front and center — but nobody made mention of slain Iranian filmmaker Javad Ganji.

Ganji was killed Jan. 9 by Iran’s security forces as the Islamic Republic cracked down on protests against its rule, the HENGAW Organization for Human Rights first reported. Government forces reportedly shot the talented director and filmmaker in Tehran, the nation’s capital.

Critics were quick to point out that some stars, including Wanda Sykes, Jean Smart and Mark Ruffalo, seized the moment at the award show to speak out against the fatal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shootings of Renee Good and Keith Porter, but failed to honor Ganji in any way.
