The Real People Fueling America’s Isolation Aren’t The So-Called ‘Isolationists’

Who are the real people driving America’s isolation from the rest of the world? Is it the people who believe that engagement with the world means raining down bombs throughout the Middle East and starting wars of choice that quickly devolve into quagmires? Or is it the people who believe we should engage in the world through trade and diplomacy, rather than lashing out like a deluded and declining imperial power?

According to neocon Iran hawks such as Mark Levin, opposing the Iran War makes you an “isolationist.” Much like the woke left, the only thing neocons are good at is controlling the terms of debate by policing language and smearing critics. But a delicious irony is lost on them: it is the very policy of hapless and overconfident military intervention —i.e., this war with Iran — that has actually isolated America, harmed our image and destroyed our credibility more than any member of the “isolationist” right.
