Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has, in recent times, developed a reputation for delivering sassy, perfectly-timed comebacks and political attacks.
Although his clean-cut, CEO-esque appearance might suggest otherwise, it should come as no surprise that Bessent is actually low-key savage. Recall that, in 1992, he famously helped to nuke the British pound by executing a massive short trade, which netted $1 billion for his employer, George Soros, and Soros Fund Management.
Without further ado, here are five moments proving Bessent is the sassiest gay man in the capital.
Down Goes The 50-Year Mortgage Guy!
Bessent and Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and now acting Director of National Intelligence, don’t exactly see eye-to-eye. The pair nearly came to blows at a private dinner in 2025, according to reports, during which the Treasury secretary allegedly threatened to punch Pulte “in the fucking face.”
Bessent addressed the incident during a Senate Finance Committee hearing Wednesday, clarifying for Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis that he, in fact, threatened to “kick his ass.”
Tillis: “Did you actually tell Pulte you were going to punch him in the face?” Bessent: “No sir. I actually said I was going to kick his ass.” Tillis: “Good. I share the emotion.” Sen.
