MIKE STIRLING: V&A is a key player for Dundee – but don’t judge it like Cristiano Ronaldo
I am a big fan of the V&A in Dundee.
I had the honour of being chosen as an ambassador for Dundee not long before it opened, and there was a real buzz about it.
My highlight was when my pal Dennis the Menace and I helped break a Guinness World Record as part of the 3D Festival in Slessor Gardens on the launch weekend, for the most people to finish a comic strip.
I managed to get inside to see the venue myself with my late mum and two young kids a few days later.
We were all wowed by the audacious design and novelty of having such a prestigious destination on our doorstep.
Unfortunately, I never got the chance to go with my mum again, but I’ve returned since with the kids, and there always seems to be something ‘live’ they can get involved in.
The best part was how engaged the teams working there were with making it a success.
The way they welcomed everyone and tried to connect us to the exhibits.
They were dedicated and putting in the hours.
I say ‘were’ but should restate as ‘are’.
It’s still the case, and I feel for them when © The Courier
