The immediate thought when you see Nelson Asofa-Solomona allegedly unload a flurry of punches outside a Bali nightclub is: At what point did someone think it was a clever idea to piss off one of the biggest humans in the southern hemisphere? The man has fists like Christmas hams.

Bali can do strange things to people - mostly Australians, always pissed, generally stupid, regularly dangerous and usually on video. Remember the bloke drop-kicking someone on a scooter in Kuta a few months ago? This type of thing doesn't happen on a yoga retreat in the Byron Bay hinterland.


The second thought was 'here we go again'. If it wasn't so predictable, it would be nauseating. You can honestly set your clock by an NRL off-season controversy. Daylight savings kicked in? Can't be long now.

The 2018 off-season was bad. The worst. It forced unprecedented change in the way the NRL handled serious and criminal issues. Asofa-Solomona does not fall into........
