'We’ve got a job to do': Brandley back from World Cup for milestone

In the one week and 17,000 kilometres between games for April Brandley, the Diamonds/Magpies’ defender has spent some eyes-wide-open time contemplating the events of an unforgettable month. Jetlag can have its uses, sometimes.

Brandley’s previous Sunday was spent on national duty in Liverpool, wearing the gold dress and playing the last quarter-and-a-bit of the World Cup final won 52-51 by New Zealand. This Sunday she will be at Melbourne Arena when Super Netball resumes, the defender’s club colours more black-and-white than her thoughts.

“It was obviously my first World Cup and I was just trying to soak it all in, and being awake at night with the jetlag I’ve been trying to reflect a little bit on how incredible the whole experience was – minus the losing by one goal!’’ she says.
