You just found out your colleague is earning more than you. What now?

I got given another employee's pay slip a few weeks ago by accident. I only realised it wasn’t mine when I saw the total and was shocked that it was so much more than usual.

Previously I’d been assured that I was on the same pay as everyone else at my level and was denied a pay rise on the basis of this fact.

This is a very significant amount of money and now I’m really angry. What should I do?

It’s probably not quite right to call your discovery serendipitous given that it’s caused you so much distress, but I do suspect (totally unscientifically) that most of us would prefer to know the truth, even if it made us furious, than the bliss of continuing ignorance.

In any case, now........
