Truly confident people must be open to feedback from others

To be genuinely confident is to be on the edge of chaos.

Beyond a certain point confidence steers into the hazardous and chaotic waters of overconfidence.

Many an overconfident mariner has sailed too close to the rocks. The lucky ones live to tell the tale.

A lack of confidence is characterised by a retreat into the tried and tested. Actions are limited where possible to only those that have been safely executed time and time again.

We all have a predisposition to like the familiar. It is comforting and requires little in the way of effort. Mainly, however, sticking to the familiar is to reduce fear of the unknown.
