Tech sector won't wait for NZ

OPINION: One of the most exciting programmes the Asia New Zealand Foundation runs connects New Zealand entrepreneurs with their Asia counterparts.

At a time of quite a bit of doom and gloom internationally, it is genuinely uplifting to see energetic young business leaders embracing technology and finding ingenious ways to monetise it.

It contrasts starkly with much of the jaundice, and frankly fear, we seem to associate with technology in New Zealand.

And remember it wasn't always so much fun back in the day here in New Zealand – remember waiting six weeks for a landline connection, applying to the Reserve Bank to get travellers' cheques and being in the queue for a 'golden ticket' Customs import licence?
