Someone should send Work and Income management to a fancy hotel so they can see how to properly administer client entitlements.

Jeremy and I spent last weekend in five-star luxury, thanks to a show I'd performed which was paid for in gift vouchers. The timing was perfect – it had been a Big Week, bookended by my birthday and our wedding anniversary, and with my mother's end-of-life celebration in between. Room service and robes never sounded so good.

At check-in, welcoming staff were at pains to explain our booking came with various benefits, including access to the Executive Lounge for canapes and cocktails (think a high-end airline lounge with no plane to catch) and massages at the spa. In case it was all too overwhelming to absorb at reception, there were printed lists in our room confirming the array of services. A valet would be available, it read, for "light ironing". Despite a suitcase of uncrushed clothes, I was tempted to request it just to see what that looked like.
