Dive in to festival season

OPINION: Husband-and-wife comedians and commentators Jeremy Elwood and Michele A'Court give their views.

May is Festival season in New Zealand. Forget summer and the music jamborees, and forget March, as I write this there are writers festivals happening nationally, The NZ International Comedy Festival is in full swing, New Zealand Music Month is rocking along (not strictly a festival, but we'll get to that later) and the Doc Edge fest is advertising its launch at the end of the month. As the weather finally begins to turn, those of you looking to escape the grey with a dose of the grey matter have a plethora of arts options to feast on.

For the first time in 20 years, I'm watching all of this from the sidelines. Even when I haven't been doing my own show at the Comedy Festival (14 and counting) I've been involved with lineup shows, fill-in spots and charity gigs. Oh, I am doing one of those, might as well plug it here – The Good Guys on Sunday May 19, at San Fran in Wellington. Always a great night.
