Comfort shows will never die

OPINION: When my kids were little, I gave them security blankets to cuddle.

I watched them immediately settle when their faces touched the fabric, and I understood exactly how they felt. After all, I have had my own security blankets since I was a child.

They are virtual blankets, mind you, but I still use them regularly, when I am stressed or anxious, or I can't sleep, or I need a little lift.

They are my favourite, deeply familiar movies and TV shows, and they as soothing and reassuring to me as any tangible comforter.

My original comfort movie was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, one of only two taped movies my family owned when I was growing up. My sister and I watched it weekly,........
