Like many of you, I am fascinated by "moon shots." That's what we used to call moon landings.

I am glued to television documentaries on the Apollo program and its predecessors, Mercury and Gemini. I have watched so many shows on space exploration I can't keep track of them.

I didn't see the recent Hollywood movie First Man, starring Ryan Gosling, but I went to the theatre this year to watch Apollo 11, a riveting documentary about the first humans to walk on the moon.

I have read endless articles, reminisces,opinion pieces and accounts of the first humans to land on the moon 50 years ago this month. I try not to miss others about robotic explorations of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and beyond.

Through it all, one question nags: how........
