Blue Jays Notebook: Devon Travis may have played last game as Jay

TORONTO – As the final month of the season approaches, the Toronto Blue Jays are getting some clarity on who will and won’t be able to return before the year comes to an end.

Among those on track to return are Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Elvis Luciano and Ryan Tepera. Devon Travis, on the other hand, will not play in 2019 due to continued knee issues. Travis will continue his rehab work at his home in Florida, but he has left the Blue Jays’ training facility with no hope of joining the team.

"I don’t see him coming back this year," manager Charlie Montoyo said.

Travis never got into a game of any kind after undergoing surgery on his left knee in March. Doctors examined the knee multiple times, but there was never enough progress to get Travis back on the field.

Though the Blue Jays won’t say as much publicly, this all but guarantees the club will remove Travis from the 40-man roster in the coming months. He’s arbitration-eligible after earning $1.93 million in 2019, but after a lost........
