Thank you to Torfaen residents for achieving another rise in food waste recycling. Food waste recycling was six per cent higher in November 2025 than it was in the same month in 2024, with the amount of rubbish placed in purple‑lidded bins falling by nine per cent.

It’s great that people who have never recycled food waste before are now giving it a go. Food waste has always made up a large portion of purple-lidded bin waste, so it’s good to see more of it being put out for recycling. That way it can be turned into renewable energy instead of hanging around in bins.
