A Newport pub is taking to the national stage as part of a hunt for the UK's next biggest pop star.

Maindee Hotel is among 10 pubs in Wales set to host a series of karaoke competitions in a quest for hidden talent.

Organised by Proper Pubs – a community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns – the competition is expected to create an entertaining journey for all.

The karaoke contest begins on September 1, inviting participants to engage in numerous 'pub heats' ahead of the 'national final' on Sunday, November 16.
