Angela Rayner’s decision to resign from government has forced Prime Minister Keir Starmer to force a reshuffle in his government.

Ms Rayner resigned after Starmer's ethics advisor concluded she had breached the ministerial code by failing to pay the correct amount of stamp duty on the purchase of an £800,000 flat in Hove.

Sir Laurie Magnus found that Rayner had “acted with integrity and with a dedicated and exemplary commitment to public service” but concluded she had breached the ministerial code over her tax affairs.
