UK households could be eligible for £170 refund ahead of TV Licence price hike

UK households could be due a refund of up to £169.50 ahead of the cost of a TV Licence rising by £5 this year.

Every household in the UK is legally required to have a TV licence in order to watch or record live TV, regardless of what channel it is on.

From April, the cost of a TV Licence will rise by £5 to £174.50, as part of an agreement in 2022 that sees the licence fee increase in line with inflation each year until 2027.

However, you could be entitled to a refund on the cost of your TV Licence if you do not watch or record live TV, and don’t stream BBC iPlayer either.

You can apply for a refund if you won’t need your licence again before it expires, and you have at least one complete........
