Daytime counting to be introduced for 2026 Senedd election

Votes will be counted during the day for the upcoming Senedd election.

This means the count will happen the day after the May 7, 2026, Senedd election in Wales, as directed by Wales’ Electoral Management Board.

Returning officers across Wales have been directed to begin counting votes between 9am and 11am on Friday, May 8, 2026.
