THIS autumn, ITV’s The Hack, will be centred on the unsolved murder of a Cwmbran man – a murder that leaves police with serious questions to answer.

The cast includes A-list drama figures, such as Robert Carlyle, David Tennant and the in-demand Toby Jones, as well as Eve Myles.

The cast will act out a weaving together of two of Britain’s most unsettling real-life scandals - the phone hacking crisis and the unsolved murder of Cwmbran private detective Daniel Morgan, who was from Llanfrechfa.

Daniel Morgan was found brutally murdered in a south-east London pub car park in 1987. He was found with an axe embedded in his skull. The whiff of police corruption in the case has never gone away.

Despite five investigations and decades of scrutiny, no one has ever been convicted. What continues to disturb observers is the growing belief - supported by the findings of the 2021 Daniel Morgan Independent Panel, that elements within the Metropolitan Police may have obstructed justice, not merely through incompetence........
