Rachel Shenton and Emily Atack lead the cast of a new drama on Channel 5, called The Rumour.

It follows Joanna [Shenton], who arrives in Flinstead with her son, ready for a fresh start.

However, when she accidentally spreads a rumour that a child killer is living in town, paranoia takes hold.

The Radio Times adds: "As suspicion spreads, Joanna becomes convinced that her neighbour Sonia [Tamzin Griffin] is hiding a dark secret, igniting a chain of events that fractures the community."

The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Lesley Kara, which has been adapted by Giula Sandler.

She also wrote Channel 5's The House Across the Street, starring Shirley Henderson.

Ahead of the show's premiere, Emily Atack spoke with the Radio Times about how being a new mum helped her with her role.
