Milano Cortina officials launched an investigation into reports of defective Olympic medals thanks in part to an experience from Oakland figure skater and Olympian, Alysa Liu.

Multiple Olympic medal-winning athletes in Italy have seen their medals snap off from their ribbon, and even chip, as they’ve celebrated their respective victories, including Liu. The 20-year-old skater posted a video on TikTok from her Olympic Village accommodations, which shows off the slightly dinged medal separated from its neckwear........
